Section 01
Accepting these terms
By creating a tewo account, downloading the tewo app, or initiating an order, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use tewo.
Section 02
What tewo is (and isn't)
tewo is a remittance on-ramp. You — or someone funding on your behalf — pay in a supported African currency. We deliver the equivalent CNY only into your own connected Alipay wallet, captured at sign-in via Alipay OAuth.
tewo is not a bank, not a deposit-taking institution, and not a Chinese-yuan wallet. We do not hold customer funds; cleared CNY sits in your Alipay account immediately after a successful payout.
Section 03
Eligibility
- You must be 18 or older.
- You must be a resident or citizen of a supported African country (Nigeria 🇳🇬 or Ghana 🇬🇭 at launch; more on the way).
- You must have a real-name Alipay account, or be able to bind one before your first payout.
- You must not be on a relevant sanctions list, and not located in a sanctioned jurisdiction.
Section 04
Your account & PIN
- You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials, your transaction PIN, and your phone confidential.
- Notify us at security@tewoapp.com immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
- You must provide accurate information at signup and KYC. Misrepresentation is grounds for account closure under §11.
- One person, one account.
Section 05
KYC & tier limits
Per-student limits are a regulatory requirement, not a soft policy. Every account is bound to a tier; we enforce hard caps in CNY, rolling 24 hours, at the order API:
| Tier | Per txn | Per day | Requires |
|---|---|---|---|
| T0 | ¥100 | ¥300 | Email · full name · DOB |
| T1 | ¥200 | ¥500 | + phone verified |
| T2 | ¥1,000 | ¥5,000 | + Prembly KYC (BVN / NIN / Ghana Card / SSNIT) |
| T3 | ¥5,000 | ¥20,000 | + address check |
Tier-up requires the corresponding KYC step. We may also request additional information at any time if regulation, fraud signals, or sanctions screening calls for it.
Section 06
Quotes, fees & locked rates
- Every order starts from a quote — a snapshot of the live rate, our spread, and the resulting CNY amount.
- Quotes are locked for 5 minutes by default. An order created against an unexpired quote uses that exact rate.
- Our spread bands are public: 1.50% → 1.00% → 0.50%, narrower at larger order sizes. The fee is shown upfront in your quote; there are no hidden FX margins on settlement.
- You can extend the lock via the in-app Rate Lock feature (up to 30 minutes) where available.
Section 07
Funding your order
- For NG orders, we issue a one-time virtual account via Flutterwave.
- For GH orders, we issue one via Paystack.
- The sponsor pays from any local bank app. We only act on the order once we receive a confirmed-funded webhook for the matching amount.
- Underpayments and overpayments are handled per the in-app rules; in most cases an overpayment is refunded to the source account.
- If the quote expires before funding lands, the funding amount is refunded; no payout is issued at a stale rate.
Section 08
Payout to your Alipay
When funding clears, we dispatch alipay.fund.trans.mytransferwith biz_scene = DIRECT_TRANSFER and product_code = TRANS_ACCOUNT_NO_PWD. The payee identity is your bound Alipay open_id, loaded server-side. You cannot specify any other recipient.
- Median payout latency after funded is under 3 minutes; 95p under 15.
- Each order id is the Alipay idempotency key (
out_biz_no) — retries cannot double-credit. - If you signed up with email and have not yet bound Alipay, the order is rejected with
ALIPAY_NOT_BOUNDand you're routed to the binding flow.
Section 09
Prohibited uses
You must not use tewo to:
- Fund anyone other than yourself, by any means (including dummy accounts, lent IDs, or third-party Alipay binding).
- Engage in money laundering, terrorism financing, sanctions evasion, or any activity that breaches AML/CTF rules in your jurisdiction or in China.
- Run business or commercial settlement through a personal tewo account.
- Submit forged identity documents or impersonate another person.
- Probe, scrape, reverse engineer, or attempt to bypass our security, rate locks, tier caps or audit log.
- Use tewo for goods or services prohibited under Chinese or relevant African law.
We monitor for these patterns and we will report to the relevant authorities where required.
Section 10
Failed payouts & support
Because the payee is always you (already KYC'd by Alipay), the "payee doesn't exist" failure mode is essentially eliminated. The remaining failure modes — merchant balance exhaustion, Alipay-side rate limits, network blips — are triaged by our ops team.
- Failed orders move to
payout_failedand a support thread opens automatically inside the app. - We respond within one business day; most cases resolve same-day.
- If we cannot deliver the CNY for reasons within our control, we will refund the original funding amount in full.
Section 11
Suspension & termination
We may suspend or close your account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that you have:
- Breached these terms, especially §9 (Prohibited uses).
- Provided false KYC information.
- Triggered repeated fraud or chargeback signals.
- Become subject to a sanctions or legal action that prevents us from continuing to serve you.
You can close your account at any time from Settings. Records we are legally required to retain (see Privacy §7) survive closure for the regulatory window.
Section 12
Disclaimers
- FX rates move. The locked rate inside a quote is honoured for that quote's window; outside that window, rates are subject to change.
- tewo is provided "as is". We do not warrant uninterrupted availability, and we are not responsible for outages caused by upstream providers (Alipay, Flutterwave, Paystack, the GFW, mobile-carrier SMS routing).
- What happens to your CNY after it lands in your Alipay is governed by your relationship with Alipay, not by these terms.
Section 13
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, tewo's aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the fees we collected from you in the 12 months preceding the event, or (b) the equivalent of ¥500 in your funding currency.
We are not liable for indirect, consequential or special losses, including lost opportunity, missed tuition deadlines, or downstream actions taken by Alipay or any third party.
Section 14
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute that the parties cannot resolve informally within 30 days will be referred to arbitration seated in Lagos, conducted in English, under the Arbitration and Mediation Act 2023, by a single arbitrator agreed by the parties.
Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief from a competent court where necessary.
Section 15
Changes
We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date at the top is authoritative. Material changes will be announced in-app and by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use tewo after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms; if you don't, close your account before the effective date.
